Needlepoint in the United Kingdom is often referred to as “tapestry” or “canvaswork”, that is, stitched by needlepoint on stiff open grid canvas mesh. When worked on fine weave canvas, it is also known as “Petitpoint”. Our needlepoint designs are hand crafted with only a basic and simple “tent stitch”, and rely on colour changes in the wool yarn to construct the pattern.

In the Victorian era, flowers allowed suitors to attribute extraneous meaning to their gift in the form of a compliment. A Cabbage Rose is the Ambassador of Love because of the densely petaled blossom that features a closely packed head. The meaning of the cabbage rose signifies strength of love and depth of passion. This design provides many meaning for the different colours: Red for Passion, Orange for Fascination, White for Eternal Love, and Purple for Enchantment. Background colour: Brown.
