About The Lace & Linens Co.
1. What makes The Lace & Linens Co. special?
We believe beautiful textiles should be enjoyed, treasured and passed down. Our collections bring together timeless lace, embroidery and fine linens inspired by traditional craftsmanship, carefully selected to complement today’s homes and meaningful occasions.
2. Who is behind The Lace & Linens Co.?
Our company was founded by Alice McQuade, a Canadian lace and linen specialist with decades of experience. Her appreciation for fine textiles began through her family’s involvement in the industry and continues today through collections that celebrate craftsmanship, beauty and tradition.
3. Are your products handmade?
Most of our pieces feature hand embroidery, hand crochet, needle lace or other traditional techniques. Others combine modern production with classic designs. Each product description provides details about its materials and craftsmanship so you can make an informed choice.
Choosing Your Lace & Linens
4. What's the difference between lace, embroidery and cutwork?
Lace is an openwork fabric or decorative edging made using threads arranged into patterns. Embroidery adds decorative stitching to an existing fabric. Cutwork combines embroidery with carefully cut openings to create delicate, lace-like designs.
Each technique offers its own distinctive beauty and character.
5. How do I choose the right tablecloth size?
Measure the length and width of your table, then decide how far you’d like the tablecloth to hang over the edges. For most dining tables, a drop of approximately 8–12 inches on each side creates an attractive finish.
For example, a table measuring 48 × 72 inches with a 10-inch drop would need a tablecloth approximately 68 × 92 inches.

6. Are your products suitable for everyday use?
Many are! Some linens are designed for regular use, while more delicate pieces are best reserved for special occasions or decorative settings. Each product’s materials and care requirements can help you decide.
Caring for Your Lace & Linens
7. How should I wash delicate lace and linens?
For many delicate pieces, gentle hand washing in cool or lukewarm water with a mild detergent is recommended. Some specialty textiles require professional dry cleaning.
Always Air dry. Always Hang to dry. Absolutely NO DRYER.
8. What should I do if I spill something on my tablecloth?
Gently blot the spill with a clean cloth rather than rubbing. Avoid harsh stain removers or bleach unless the care instructions permit them. For valuable or delicate handmade pieces, professional textile cleaning may be the safest choice.
