For an ideal and memorable baby shower gift, why not make a lovely baby bonnet from a simple handkerchief? The hankie-bonnet can be used on the baby’s christening day, then be kept as a keepsake until it is passed down to the bride-to-be as a rite of passage.
The Lace And Linens Co. can provide you with exquisite handkerchiefs that will be both endearing for the baby and elegant for the bride.
Materials:
Instructions:
- Iron hankie.
- Fold about 1/3 of the hankie. This should be the back of it.
- Fold about ¾ of an inch on the opposite side.
- Stitch across each folded section by the edge, either by hand or machine, whichever you prefer.
- Take a piece of ribbon and put it through the narrow section. This will be the back opening.
- Pull both ends of the ribbon as tight as you can and tie it in a bow.
- Sew a piece of ribbon from each of the front corners.
- Add a rosette or bow to cover the stitching and decorate it to your liking.
