Our Heritage Roses & Trapunto Rosebuds tablecloth brings together two historic needlework techniques in one beautifully balanced design. Each rose and leaf is individually hand appliquéd — shaped, turned under, and stitched into place with precision. Appliqué by hand is a specialized art, requiring patience and exacting control to create clean contours and refined edges.
The rosebuds are finished using the trapunto technique — a traditional method meaning “to embroider” or “to prick with a needle.” Often referred to as “stuffed appliqué,” trapunto gently lifts the buds with subtle padding beneath the surface, giving them dimension and sculpted depth. The effect is tactile yet elegant.
Fine blanket stitching outlines each motif with consistency that reflects true artisan skill. Even the coordinating napkins are finished with six trapunto buds — a detail rarely seen today.
Crafted from 100% pure cotton in a warm vintage ecru tone, this piece blends beautifully with both traditional and modern interiors. The oval shape creates movement and softness, especially suited to intimate dining spaces.
